And the computer is back again. And working - at least for now, anyway.
As far as the tech could tell, there's either something wrong with the battery, or with the charging circuits. The battery is replacable, and easy to fix (if not cheap), but the circuits would involve taking the whole thing apart.
Thus, since it's working again now, I'm backing stuff up, and hoping that it can last until after exams, when letting people take it to pieces is livable.
There's possibly something wrong with the fact that I don't even need to give the repair guy my address anymore - my name is enough. And he gave me a discount this time, too.
In other news, in the time my computer was away, I read 3 and half books. Because that's what I do when I don't have a computer - I read.
Said books:
- Warlords of Utopia, by Lance Parkin (It's a Faction Paradox book, for those who know of such things.
- Thud! by Terry Pratchett (re-read)
- Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett (re-read)
- The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, by Oliver Sacks (partially read)

crack_van. For those who are wondering, it's one of my Old School recs - a Susan fic. I got this icon especially for it.
Also, some S3 Doctor Who news. Spoilery, of what people are wearing is considered a spoiler. No photos yet, mind.
From the people who have been watching filming: Yes, in S3, we will be seeing a return of Tux!Ten. Hurrah! Also, it appears that Freema also gets the formal gear this time, with Martha in an evening dress. Ah, shiny outfits, how I love you.
On the subject of TV news, I heard the thing about Life on Mars finishing after S2. Somehow, I sort of saw that coming. I'm looking forward to the new series, but I think it's not a concept that should be extended too long, so if we end up with a good conclusion, I'll be happy with two series'.

I am quite happy that they decided to end season 2 with a clear-cut ending. This has something to do with my short attention span (only a few series manage to keep me interested for the duration of more than, say, three seasons), and has a lot to do with the concept of the series. "Life on Mars" is very much about Sam's angst and the uncertainty of whether he's a time traveller or comatose, and it would be impossible to keep up the ambiguity for long. At some point, Sam's questioning the reality of 1973 would become ridiculous - or it would sort of fade out and "Life on Mars" would turn into a standard cop show.

But you are dead right about the focus on Sam questioning reality. As much fun as the "current day guy surviving in the past" gimmick is, it's not the first time it's been done. And he would adapt - it's the questioning, the slight surrealness of everything, and Sam still trying to find a way home despite everything that makes it unique.
And I am fascinated to find out how they end it.
