Was lurking around a few threads on the OG, when I stumbled upon a recent - and rather unexpected post from Teh Moff.
(From here)
In response to a previous commenter's "Writer Steven Moffat has all but admitted that The Doctor & Rose were sexually active as of the 'Doctor Dances' episode"
Teh Moff:
"I say, no I didn't! The whole scene was about the fact they WEREN'T at it - indeed, it was the Doctor being slightly hurt that Rose hadn't even considered him in that light.
There's precious little evidence they ever got up to anything, I'd have said - that it doesn't stop it being a love story, of course (it clearly was) but unrequited surely?
Oh, it's all sex with you lot, isn't it? And when the writer of Coupling says you're banging on about sex too much, it's time to start listening.
Steven Moffat"
Did mine eyes just decieve me, or was the word "unrequited" just used to describe the Doctor/Rose relationship by someone in the know?

;)
Frankly, I don't care whether it was unrequited or that they shagged like bunnies from day one. I just want some of the shippers to shut up.
But yes, Moffat-love!

But Teh Moff, is Teh Bomb. And he got the Hugo, which is a thing of yayness. *is hoping he makes the double with GitF next year*

I've read RTD himself say something along these lines, I'm sure I have (though I believe the implication was it was unrequited from Nine's side. And I'm oddly fond of that idea, that Nine is in love with her but Ten isn't, and that Rose is in love with Ten but not Nine. It is very Gift of the magi, and also mathematically pleasing to me with all the numbers.)

That said, the slightly nasty irony of the Doctor that Rose loves not being the one that loves her appeals to me a lot. But then, as anyone who has seen the reasoning for why I like Doomsday could attest, I have a liking for slightly nasty ironies.

It is also very in keeping with what we saw onscreen. She didn't go all goopy over him until he was Ten, but Ten wasn't as insanely jealous of anyone she looked at like Nine was (even though he flirted with trees, the temporal tart!)

Because I must rebut ...
I AM LIKE A HARMONIAN. Only not, because I don't really care whether it turns out that Rose Was Special or that Rose Had A Fangirl's Love, because I like the ship and so on and on.
From:
Re: Because I must rebut ...
This was Moffat refuting the false quote, and then getting into the overall debate.
To borrow the Harmonian debate, being hurt that "Rose hadn't considered him in that light" was like Hermione getting pissy Harry considered her a girl. You don't need to be attracted to someone sexually to be offended if they think you haven't had sex, which is what Rose was implying about the Doctor. You don't need to like someone romantically to be offended if they think you don't like romance.

Though this is the guy who paired the Doctor with someone other than Rose, so I'm not sure if he's quite got the same viewpoint as the other writers.
And, yeah, that scene was the equivalent of Jo saying "he reminds me of a younger you", except that Nine wonders why she doesn't think of him that way, and quite rightly.
Hee, the anti-asexualist now reckons they're obsessed. *beam* Yay for irony.

I find it a bit... just because he thinks the Doctor isn't without sexual thought doesn't mean he thinks the Doctor is only about sexual thought.

Well, yeah. The Doctor always loves his companions (which is one reason why the Adam thing irks me).
Something a lot of batshippers fail to realise: sex and love are not necessarily connected.

I'm sure I've mentioned here before that I've had my doubts about Moffat as a member of any OTP Club on that one, which would make the sense since a truly non-aseuxal stance does require assuming the Doctor's loved and "danced" before and will again. Basically, from what I've seen of Moffat's views on the subject, One True And Only Love is incompatible with his own ideas.
And yeah, he's the one who seemingly had no qualms about pairing the Doctor up with a "perfect match" who isn't Rose and writing it as though Rose were not even an issue.
Though I do read that and wonder if he meant "unconsummated." Or something.

I had much the same thought. Even someone that good with Teh Wordz can biff it now and again.
After all, many of us post the way we talk, and isn't Steve supposed to be all autobiographical, specifically in his great talent for saying exactly the wrong thing at the worst possible time? ;-)

Um, why is that a surprise? That's how I read the relationship all along--in as much as the physical side, certainly (tho it switches from Rose wanting and not getting to the Doctor wanting and nto getting halfway through the first series, and Rose wanting and the Doctor not noticing in series two). But it's only in fan fiction that they two of them get it on (as it should be, imo). In the text itself, it's definitely a lot of things, but requited (and shagging)? Oh hell no. That's the APPEAL for me, but then, I like my OTPs less fluffy bunny, more grey areas....
